Thanks so much to everyone who joined us at Buckminster Barn the other week for our June Grantham Women in Business networking meeting and also to celebrate the official launch of Queen Bee & Co. We had 50 businesses attend on the evening and the support I received on the evening meant so much to me. I am extremely excited about my new Marketing and Events Consultancy business and also feel very lucky to have such supportive friends around me.
It’s so important when you are launching a new business or product that you have an event to launch this momentous occasion. As an event planner, armed with a list of things to organise prior to the event; selecting the perfect venue, choosing the right caterer, entertainment, organising promotional items and marketing materials for people to remember you by and on top of that, the all-important guest list, PR and media coverage to organise too.
I have the pleasure of working with the extremely talented photographer, Jon Scrimshaw who I am pleased to say has teamed up with Queen Bee & Co to offer photography services to businesses who require head shots, product images and branding images for their website and social media platforms. I spent a day with Jon a few months ago before launching my new business, working on that all-important photo shoot to support my brand identity, which is a vital ingredient when you are about to launch a new business or product. Jon also came along to the official launch and captured some great shots from the evening.
The lovely Rue and Mark, our film crew were filming the event and capturing some lovely moments from the evening. They are both extremely passionate about providing great customer service as well as an amazing finished product. What sets them apart is that they go the extra mile to make you happy. They work with a diverse range of incredible people who share the same dream and desire to promote their products or services through the power of video. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
Keeping the event on brand – instead of doing what everyone else does normally at a launch event, I was lucky enough to source a fantastic local honey maker, Colsterworth honey, so we decided to brand some little jars of honey as give-aways for the attendees, which was very well received and something a little quirky which was related to the business name and much more on brand rather than giving away a free pen or mug! I’m a big supporter of local honey and protecting the honey bee too.
I provided everyone with a wealth of marketing tips and ideas during my speaker slot, along with an interactive session all about stepping into your client’s shoes. I highlighted the importance of utilising all of the marketing tools out there and seeing what works best for your business. Also, never to take your foot off the peddle and to not just work IN your business but ON your business!
On the evening, we all tucked into a delicious buffet which was provided by Hoagies, a local caterer in Oakham and for pudding, the very talented Purple Pumpkin Cake company baked us up some little bee cakes for everyone to enjoy, all on brand too with my new logo to boot!
All in all, we had a fantastic evening and I’ve received some great feedback from the evening so thanks to everyone who joined us on the night and to Grantham Journal who provided some press coverage in the local paper the following day. It’s safe to say it was a huge success!
